  1. Tim McGregor is a screenwriter and author, living in Toronto with his wife and children When not writing, Tim can be found chasing away the nocturnal recycling people who creep into his yard.

  2. The Spookshow is book one in the Spookshow series by Tim McGregor I read this book as part of the ten book anthology, Powers, Spice, and Not So Nice.Billie Cullpepper had an ordinary life, she was an ordinary woman, until the accident Now she can see dead people Does she want this, no way But there doesn t seem to be anything she can do about it Two of her best friends are determined to visit a house that is slated to be torn down dubbed The Murder House It is said that unspeakable things happen [...]

  3. I have a friend who works at a funeral home He called once and said, in mock seriousness and in cryptic tones I see dead people.Tim McGregor s 2014 publication Spookshow features a protagonist that, like the little boy in M Night Shyamalan s 1999 film The Sixth Sense, sees dead people.Unlike that little boy, who was born with the ability, Billie Culpepper s power seems to have come about after a recent near death experience McGregor wastes no time getting to Billie s ability, making off stage al [...]

  4. I probably would ve loved this book when I was 12 But not so much now The characters are absolutely awful The story might ve been ok but I just can t handle any from this series.

  5. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review First of all I think the character ages should be made clear As the group of friends were going to visit a haunted house, I figured they were about 14, but then I found out that they live with their boyfriends Due to this I added on a few years to possibly eighteen or nineteen, but after finding out one of them has her own business, I m now guessing early twenties I liked the idea behind the story, but I think it could have been st [...]

  6. I have to admit that I ve never read anything by this author beforeWith that being said, it makes me wonder what other books he has out that would capture my interests.I picked up this book on for freeIn fact just bought it today and was totally mesmerized by it Before I knew it, it was over A word of caution, this book is the first in the series, and many things pertaining to the past will be discussed slightly, and present situations obstacles are portrayed You will not get solid answers regar [...]

  7. Life used to be normal for Billie Culpepper Drab even That all that changed after an accident left her in a coma for three days That s when the spookshow really began, when Billie realized that she could see the dead. And the dead could see her. Now, they won t leave her alone.Accompanying two friends through a haunted house, Billie uncovers a terrible secret that brings, not only the police, but the homicide detective responsible for putting her into the hospital in the first place He s also the [...]

  8. Fabulous It s no secret that ghost stories are my favorite, they hit my paranormal sweet spot juuust right And if they are good ghost stories then I m over the moon in happiness bliss Yeah, a little over dramatic there, but seriously, I m a ghost story ho, I can t help it, don t deny it happily embrace my ghost loving self This story was a lot of spooky fun I was a bit confused at times because there wasn t a lot of backstory about the characters, but as I ve found out while reading book 2, that [...]

  9. Actual rating 3.5The main character in this was okay, although some of the other characters annoyed me a bit. This was a decent read, which I enjoyed It started off quite good, and it managed to hold my interest throughout Overall, A decent read.

  10. Tim McGregor is a pretty good storyteller The circumstances of this tale are first rate and even if a bit past belief, good solid entertainment The unfortunate situation with the book is that it was either not edited at all or at best very poorly done Word selection is a bit strange as well For example, he repeatedly overuses the word or variations of the word clock , applying varying meanings from seeing or noticing to socking I ll still read the next in the series for the entertainment But it [...]

  11. GreatGreat book can t wait to read the second one I love how Billy can see the dead and help the living.

  12. I really liked this book It was free so , I gave it a read It was short I purchased the second for 0.99 Little did I know that the second one was a prequel to this one Started to buy the 3rd one but decided to read the description GUESS WHAT The 1st book is just PART of the 3rd book It just missing another characters story they want you to pay 4.99 for it WTH I am not going to buy a book That I have already read 2 3 of That is just ridiculous I would love to see where the story goes but I am not [...]

  13. Awesome ThrillerThis book was exciting to say the least It was a very fast read that ends with a crazy cliff hanger I loved all of the characters and how they were made and I can not wait to see them grow in the rest of the series It was really nice to be able to download the second book for free for taking a chance on the first book Read this series

  14. This book started off really slow for me, but as soon as Kaitlin went missing is started picking up The parts where Billie and the detective were together or probably some of the weirdest parts of the story Although, how Kaitlin was reintroduced into the story was quite interesting The twist at the end is really making me consider continuing on with the series.

  15. A very good read for the thrill seeker in everyone Since I am a wuss I had to read this during the day when my son napped as opposed to night time Quick, intense read.

  16. Spooky, creapy, and I can still read it.Usually I avoid horror like the plague However I love a good ghost, phychic, paranormal story That is how I found this book, a search of psychic fiction I enjoyed this story because unlike recent story s I ve read it didn t try to romanticize evil Just classic good triumphs over evil Not to say the authors doesn t still have issues with religion but he didn t ruin the story by making it a huge issue I did like the warning that playing with the occult isn t [...]

  17. I really liked the premise and it was spooky enough to give you that fun scary chill without being scary enough to give me nightmares great balance But it was confusing because everyone in the book kept referring to events in the past like I should already know what had happened I felt like I had missed something, but figured it out as the story went along I thought that the author must just be kind of a minimalist when it came to backstories The story was absorbing and kept me interested to the [...]

  18. Going to downloads no 2This author has great respect for the paranormal and could imagine the Ghost Adventures studying the Murder House the plot was based America seems full of abandoned buildings and could picture the creepy house due for demolition

  19. I was given an electronic copy of this book by the author for an honest review I would give this book 3 3 4 stars, if the rating system would allow I wish that this book was a few pages longer, so that the author could flesh out a little of Billie s story I appreciate the fact that the author wanted to slowly reel out her story, as to keep us guessing However, it is such an essential part to the novel that I felt it was necessary That being said, the book lived up to its title and was definitel [...]

  20. Spook tacular read Fast paced and eerie, it grabbed me right from the beginning and wouldn t let go The only reason I didn t give it five stars was because I felt cheated on billie s back story In this book, we never find out exactly what happened that makes Billie see dead people and we never get than a couple paragraphs about the tension filled relationship between Billie and the cop A little introduction or even a prologue detailing the accident that caused her to see dead people all the ti [...]

  21. Interesting start to the story We meet Billie and her friends Kaitlin and Tammy, who are heading to an abandoned house aptly named the murder house As the name implies, it s a little spooky, but Billie can speak and see the dead Maybe not a good idea for her to be there but she couldn t let her two friends go alone.I m hooked And I don t even know how I want to know what happens to Katlin, i want to know about the accident of Billies and how Detective Mockler is involved Brilliantly written, and [...]

  22. Good book but, in my opinion, only if you read books 2 and 3 of the series first I started it, felt like I had missed a prequel and saw through reviews the wise recommendations to read 2 and 3 first Out of order books are fine when done AFTER you understand the basic set up and care about the characters for good examples see the Mary Russell or Amelia Peabody series. So, that gripe aside, I am racing through this series Innovative with engaging characters and a good twist on paranormal stuff Book [...]

  23. I got this book as a free e book off Kobo I m actually quite pleased with that I feel that story was short though but I actually downloaded the other five off Kobo The prices for those were decentThe story is about a young girl who can see and feel the dead and this story has a lot of creepiness and Gothic feel A lot of that haunted mystery that I like to read about in ghost stories I m looking forward to reading the next instalment And a really big plus is that this author is a Canadian author [...]

  24. Billie Culpepper has a special little gift She is very sensitive to the paranormal Billie, along with her friends Kaitlyn and Tammy, decide to check out the local abandoned Murder House The house lives up to its name, but things don t start going south until after they leave All hell breaks loose, literally.I am SO glad this book is the first in a series It was outright creepy My favorite kind It has a few flaws It switches POV mid paragraph and my guesses at the characters ages were WAY off, bu [...]

  25. A tense supernatural thriller horror story It isn t really my chosen genre for reading however I can see it making a great film or possibly a series Not all the loose ends were tied but enough to satisfy and leave minor details for another story basis I think a description of the appearance and history of the 3 friends of the main protagonist would ve been a good idea At times it was hard to remember who was who unless they spoke about something their own viewpoint had already been given on.

  26. This book is so fast passed its hard not to be pulled in Anyone who knows me knows this is not a book I would typically read, especially at 1130 at night It captivated my attention from the first page I m not too fond of the ending, it being a major cliff hanger, but knowing I ll be getting the second one for free helps I suppose This book was a little below me in reading level, but still kept my attention Overall, great plot, it had be guessing left and right to what was going to happen next I [...]

  27. I enjoyed my time spent with Billie Culpepper and crew It was spooky enough to indeed be deemed a ghost story but not so spooky as to keep me awake at night I love a good thrill and Spookshow adequately provided just enough and wasn t heavily laden down with romance elements It ended a tad abrupt for my taste but was otherwise a good read I ve already gotten ahold of book 2 and look forward to continuing the story.

  28. Honestly Eh The book picks up in what feels like the middle of the story There are constant references to events that happened prior to the start of this book that the reader is left in the dark about The end of the book has the characters sit down and say Okay Let s hash this over from the beginning , meaning you ll have to read the second book to get the whole story, which is just too backward for me The one saving grace was the good character development of the main characters.

  29. Couldn t read it in the darkI really enjoyed reading this book and have already purchased the next one.It s about time a really heart pounding scary book came along.I read before bed and this book I had to save for daylight.I love a good scary book.Loved the characters and the cliff hanger is intriguing.I highly recommend reading this book and I have found a new author to add too my collection of anticipating new books.Well Done

  30. I was able to get this book on as a free read It was interesting how she could see and react to ghosts but the book left you The second book did not give you an ending to this one, so you never find out what happened to her friend in the hospital.hanging at the end and then you had to buy the next book to find out what happened, which you didn t because it told it s own story of why she could see ghosts.
